Whitney Quilters is a group of senior ladies that meet once a week at the Whitney Senior Center in St Cloud, MN. They get together to handquilt their own quilts, but since September 2011, have gotten together an additional day every other week to handquilt the quilts for the Home of the Brave project. From September through mid December 2011, they have handquilted five quilts, plus, several members have made and quilted quilts individually. They are continuing this project in 2012.

On the evening of June 16, 2011, approximately 30 quilters gathered in the ballroom at the St. Paul River Centre to honor Jean Loken and to work for about two hours sewing quilt tops for the Home of the Brave project. The group finished 6 quilt tops that evening.

Angie Roberts, the owner of The Noble Quilter Quilt Shop in Elk River, and Yvonne Curran, the President of Minnesota Quilter’s Inc., donated the fabrics that were used.  Bernina of America provided classroom sewing machines.

It was a fun evening, and everyone worked very hard.
