Patricia
Cummings, of Quilter’s Muse, has posted excellent directions for the
block being used by the Minnesota chapter. You are invited to
download her instructions. Try one block first and see how easy it
is.
We are using Civil War reproduction fabrics or other
fabrics that have the same feel. Civil War era fabrics were extremely
varied, but the commonest colors were brown, Turkey red, indigo or
Prussian blue, teal, overdyed greens, and yellow. Prints ran from
small to large scale, and stripes and plaids were popular. If you wish
to use the fabrics you already own, choose muted colors and avoid
bright contemporary prints. Browns, grays, and blues, mixed with
prints on white are always acceptable. View the quilts we
have presented from Minnesota to see what others have used.
